Installing Insight on your web site
Deploy Insight in 3 Simple Steps
1. Create a Group
Create a group to get a unique group profile and embed code.
(Actually, if you’ve never used Insight before, you need to create a free user profile first.)
Each web site must make at least one group. If you would like to use different configurations for different parts of your site, you can make a different group (each of which gets a unique embed code) for each part of the site you want to customize.
2. Configure HTML Settings for Your Site
From your user profile, click over to your Group’s homepage, then open the Group Settings page.
Here, you can tell Insight which parts of a page (i.e., which HTML elements) to scan and insert highlights into. (No highlights will be inserted in HTML elements that aren’t inside a scanned area.)
Just use standard CSS selectors!
3. Install Embed Code
You will find the embed code on the Group Settings page.
Just add it to any and all pages where you want Insight to appear for your readers.
You can add it to the
of your site, or at the bottom of the page before the closing tag. Just like Google Analytics.
Other Options
Insight lets you configure many features to better suit your site and community! For example:
- Ratings - Add, change, or remove traits from the list of traits a user can use to react to content on your site. Assign a value of -5 to 5 to each rating, too, to quantify how users are reacting to your content.
- Publisher Tab - If members of your team or staff leave a comment or question, Insight can identify their contribution with your logo, so that your readers know you’re participating!
- Custom Ad Tags - Want to place your own ads, or see what other networks we have to offer? Contact us at info@insightapp.com and we’ll work with you.
